Hey y'all, I sent my agent to business school this week.

Well, my version.

For the second time.

The first time was for design. This time was for product sense.

And somewhere in round two, I realized the MBA itself was the valuable part. So I turned it into a skill you can use too.

This week I’m sharing how to teach your AI get smarter about any skill.

Round one: design

A month ago everything my AI designed looked like... an AI designed it.

You know the look.

So on Oct 1, I had it study the two companies I think do design best: Linear and Airbnb.

It consumed every essay from their design teams, interviews they’ve given, and social posts.

But it also spend hours actually walking through every page on both sites / products and taking notes on the actual CSS choices they were making everywhere about spacing, color theory, font sizes, you name it).

Then it turned all of that into a design playbook it checks every screen against.

Now my stuff might not quite be at unicorn startup level, but it’s started looking like a real company made it.

Round two: product sense

But it was still making weird product and UX decisions.

Like a signup flow where someone types in their email to get a free playbook... and the very next screen asks "Where should we send the playbook?"

They... just told us.

I had it go back through every time I'd corrected it on product stuff over three months. 564 corrections, with 14 patterns.

So I sent it back to school. This time to study how great product people actually think:

  • Lenny Rachitsky's various content

  • YC's talks and Paul Graham's essays

  • First Round Review interviews

  • Ben Thompson's Stratechery

Now it actually thinks about the person on the other side of the screen.

For example, now I can ask it if there’s anywhere within our products and processes where our incentives are misaligned with our customers, and to fix that if so.

It’ll actually run an analysis and surface things I might not even have thought of.

It's not perfect (it built me a pretty bad survey flow this morning lol). But now when I correct it, the fix goes into the skill and it checks against it next time.

The homework is the valuable part

The best knowledge on almost any topic is already on the internet. It's just scattered across essays, podcasts, talks, and old blog posts from people who've actually done the work.

Ask an AI a question and you get the average of everything it's read. Make it go read the practitioners first, in their own words, and you get closer to their judgment.

That deep crawl was the most valuable part of both rounds.

So I turned it into a skill: AI MBA

I packaged the whole process into a meta skill. I call it AI MBA.

  1. You pick a topic you want your AI to get better at

  2. It does a deep study from practitioner and first-party sources

  3. Then it builds new skills from what it learned and tests them on real work

Your AI teaches itself a topic, basically.

If you try AI MBA, reply and tell me what you taught your agent. I'm collecting the best ones.
